ABOUT PRIVATE SESSIONS
Injury Recovery/Pain Relief/Better Movement and Balance

How does a session work?
When you come for a private session, we start by investigating the way in which your movement and posture might be related to your injuries and discomfort. For example, it may be your slouched way of sitting, that puts pressure on the lower discs of your spine, and cause your back pain. It may be the position of your head that creates the pain in your shoulder, and numbness in your arm. It may be a restriction in your hip, that causes the plantar fasciitis pain in your foot. The variations are many, and different from one person to the other.

I create an individualized process that brings your awareness to your unique movement and postural patterns, and gives you the awareness and skills to develop healthier patterns that support you in your daily life. In this process, I use a gentle touch and verbal guidance to release postural tension in your body, and teach you to sit, stand, and move with ease and comfort.

Sessions are done in a variety of positions to accommodate your comfort and needs. I will provide you with instructions for home practice, so your improvement will continue after your session. We will explore ways to improve your daily activities, such as sitting at your computer, working out, washing dishes etc, as well as your ergonomic environment.

I bring to the process my vast experience of giving thousands of sessions over eleven years, and helping people of different ages, professions and needs. I draw on my background as a dancer, as well as my interest and study of relevant fields.
My goal is to bring my clients back to health, and to help them build the bridges that will allow them to live full active lives.

Please read below about the Feldenkrais Approach to healing and learning.
The Approach
Relieving symptoms is not enough
There are many ways to relieve symptoms, either medically, or by using alternative approaches. However, often symptoms that are once relieved, they return. The reason for this relapse is that the root cause has not been addressed. The Feldenkrais work goes beyond relieving symptoms, and focuses on changing the underlying patterns that are the root cause for these symptoms.
Seeing the body as a whole
While many forms of body therapy focus on the area of the injury, in Feldenkrais, we see your body as a whole, and use the integration between your different parts as a way of getting you out of pain and into health
Not a "cookie cutter" approach
Even though people may suffer from similar injuries (for example, lower back pain), each person’s movement and posture is different. The steps for their recovery are, therefore, just as unique.
I create an individualized process, to fit your needs and abilities in the now, both in your body and in your life. I provide you with practices to continue to work with at home, and empower you to learn how to take care of yourself, so you can live your life the way you want.
Neuroplasticity (brain plasticity) in action
Neuroplasticity refers to our brain's ability to change continuously throughout our life. In Feldenkrais, this ability is used as a repatterning tool for our daily functions and actions. Our capacity for self change is directly related to our brain's capacity for change, at any age!!!

The Feldenkrais Touch
Your feelings of safety and comfort are essential for your recovery and improvement. I use a gentle and supportive touch. Through my touch you will be able to let go of tension in your body, and develop new healthier connections throughout. My touch goes through your soft tissue and muscles to your bones, and helps you establish a clear skeletal connection. New clients are often surprised by these pleasant new sensations, and by how different the Feldenkrais touch is from anything they felt before.
Awareness as tool for change
“If you know what you do, you can do what you want.”
- Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais

In order to change our patterns, we first need to become aware of them. The Feldenkrais process is designed to develop your sensorial awareness, so you can move and act with educated choice.

For example: many children and adults are often told by teachers, parents, doctors, etc - "to straighten up" their posture. In response, they might pull their shoulders back, but are likely to return to their old posture a minute later. This is because pulling your shoulders back as a stand-alone movement is unnatural, and tiring to your muscles and body. In the Feldenkrais process, you develop the awareness and learn how to coordinate your entire body, so you can stand “straight” effortlessly.
Who is it for?
I work with adults and children from the age of 8 and up with a variety of issues, difficulties and injuries, such as:
Neuromuscular pain, chronic pain, joint problems, lack of mobility and flexibility, bad posture, balance issues, MS, anxiety, neurological conditions, breathing difficulties, and vertigo among others.
I also work with actors, dancers and athletes that are interested in improving their technique and physical abilities. Read Here
